What is Interventional Neuroradiology treatment of hemorrhagic stroke or Brain Hemorrhage (Aneurysm & AVM)?
The causes of hemorrhagic stroke like brain aneurysm (ballooning of blood vessel), brain AVF, AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation -Entangled bunch of abnormal brain vessels) are treated by minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery by Interventional Neuroradiologist without opening the skull & brain.
The brain aneurysm (ballooning of blood vessel) is treated by endovascular coiling. The aneurysm is approached from thigh with the help of microcatheter & microwire & then packed with platinum metallic coils. The packed & blocked aneurysm is thus separated from normal brain circulation & is treated.
The AVF, AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation -Entangled bunch of abnormal brain vessels) are also treated by this minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery called as Embolisation. The AVM is approached from thigh with the help of microcatheter & microwire & then filled with the liquid agent called as ‘Onyx’ or Glue. The filled & blocked AVM is thus separated from normal brain circulation & is treated.
